Waratah-Wynyard Council update

Would you like to join the action in the Eco- Village on Saturday 12 October 2024?

The Eco- Village is an undercover space in Gutteridge Gardens (in a yurt) that allows for intimate discussions and activities with community and visitors.   We invite local networks and groups with a focus on environment, biodiversity and sustainability to come along a create a place for shared learning.  You might want to share some images or flyers about your group.  You might have a creative activity or interactive display that you can share.

The Eco- Village will be open from 11am through to 4:30pm with some key attractions throughout the day.  We encourage hands on activities for families to keep little ones busy ( this was popular in 2023).

Get ready to celebrate creativity and sustainability with the Wynyard Tulip Festival 2024! Council proudly sponsored the exciting digital upcycling competition, inviting individuals and teams with a knack for creativity and a passion for upcycling to showcase their talents. See https://www.warwyn.tas.gov.au/tulip-festival/competitions/

Waratah-Wynyard Council are calling on citizen scientists, budding or seasoned photographers and anyone who loves the wonder of the natural world. The contest is simple, get out there around the Waratah-Wynyard municipality and start snapping photos of the vegetation around you. It could be your favourite tree, snapshots of your favourite woodland vegetation, any weird and wonderful or just plain interesting fungi, moss, lichen or algae you might have noticed. A photo submission can contain any form of vegetation as defined in the T&Cs below, that can be found growing in and around the natural areas of the Waratah-Wynyard Municipality.

Waratah-Wynyard Council Public Art Group Artists Brief Painted Street Cabinets

Transformer boxes are everywhere! These large metal boxes are fixtures in our towns. Many
of them have been around for decades and look a little tired.
Waratah-Wynyard Council Public Art Advisory Group (PAAG) would like to celebrate our
local artists by inviting applications to have original artworks featured on select street
cabinets.
This is a win/win situation where local art is promoted and a positive contribution to the
attractiveness of the urban streetscape is made.
WWC PAAG recognises the positive impact the arts make on health and well-being together
with tourism and the local economy.
Successful designs will portray a sense of place, reflect local identity, and connect with the
community by stimulating reflection and imagination.
