Rambling Reveries by Karen Ashworth-Eck

Like a Clock Without Hands

Nature knows no ticking,

no rigid hands that sweep and point –

the river does not run by the minute,

and the sun rises and sets

with a painter’s patient hand.

Let us find our own natural pace:

to abide,

 to delight,

and to dwell there,

like the forest breathing softly

in its quiet and gentle cadence.

Our bodies are governed by natural cycles, far older than any human invention – ancient rhythms etched into the fabric of life itself.  These circadian rhythms connect us to Earth’s pulse, a rhythm shared by all living things.   To live well is to align ourselves with this natural flow, stepping away, as much as we can, from the artificial urgency of minutes and hours.  In this stepping away, we rediscover the profound comfort of knowing we are not separate from nature but deeply enmeshed within its embrace.

‘The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature’

Joseph Campbell
