Community based Income (CBI) Campaign
We are very heartened by the huge amount of support we have had recently for our CBI campaign. See https://cbitasmania.org.au/ for more information about the CBI. We have two petitions, the most important one is at https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN8180. When we get more than 50 signatures
Here are some of the comments from the Open Petition of reasons why people support the CBI:
The world needs to think outside the box and consider novel answers to long-term real-world situations. Particularly those that have been placed on the shelf such as community connection & empowering those disenfranchised by the current system. If it’s not working for everyone, it’s not working. It’s time to be courageous!
Reducing financial stress particularly in times of uncertainty with AI and climate pressures is critically important for our wellbeing and a cohesive community. I fully support this trial and wish it every success.
To give people a sense of purpose and promote community connectedness.

A CBI would be an important step towards reunifying our fragmented communities. Simply acknowledging the fact that our community would cease to function without the unpaid work done by so many caring and compassionate people is not enough. It’s time to put some money where those mouths are.
We would love people to sign the government petition who havent done so already at https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN8180

The event was led by Cr Gary Bramich as MC, with guest speakers Robin Krabbe, Stephen Shadforth and Wenna Cooper, who talked about our Care Farming project, and Zoe Poutoukalis who talked about our Grow group at the Live Well Centre every Wednesday, as part of GROW Australia, and Greg Smith (R U OK? Ambassador) sharing inspiring and encouraging messages.
